Hong Kong's Family-owned Investment Holding Vehicle (FIHV) tax concession regime provides a profits tax concession at 0% for qualifying family investment holding vehicles. The qualifying threshold requires a minimum aggregate net asset value of HK$240 million (approximately US$31 million) in specified assets, measured at the end of the basis period. If the NAV falls below HK$240 million in a given year, the threshold is still met if it was reached in either of the two preceding years. This compares with Singapore's Section 13O scheme (updated January 2025), which requires S$20 million at the point of application (approximately US$15 million) with no grace period. Hong Kong's higher threshold positions the FIHV regime toward larger family offices, though its simpler tax structure and China market access make it the preferred jurisdiction for families with significant mainland exposure.
